FIGHT AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Happy Sunday people, hope you all went to church and for those of us that did not we ask for the Lord to forgive us and also show us his grace. This week has been a week of reflection for me, witnessed a real life DOMESTIC VIOLENCE in action and it got me thinking ” WHY WOULD A WOMAN ALLOW HERSELF TO BE ABUSED BY A MAN”. No situation should ever make you feel less than what you are.  YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL, YOU ARE GOD’S CREATION, YOU ARE AMAZING and most of all SHE IS A LADY. Find below an excerpt culled from a poem written by Chidera of House of Zeta to continue reading go to http://www.maisondezeta.blogspot.com.

Named the poem SHE’S A LADY

A punch, a kick, a whip
She curls up as you flip
A curse, a blow, a belt
She cries with agony felt
Why so angry? Why so shady?
She has loved, cared and helped
You’ve whipped, lashed and burned
She’s forgotten and you never knew, She’s a lady!

Why are you with him? They’ve asked?
You won’t understand, I gnashed
Still in the haze, that what this is, is love
Love isn’t a problem you need to solve
You’re meant to fall and rock steady
Leave him, find another, be happy
I can’t, I won’t, I don’t know how, life without him would be crappy
A weak smile on their faces because she’s not aware, She’s a lady!

Hope you repost and share this to all your friends cause you don’t know who you would be touching by sharing this post.

Thanks

WHY DO I NEED A WEDDING PLANNER ???

“I don’t need a wedding planner”, “Why do i need a wedding planner ?” I can handle all the details my self, is it not just to pay the vendors bla bla bla. This is the mantra we get off intending brides but the truth is that we can never underestimate the importance of a WEDDING PLANNER. These are a few reasons why a wedding planner is a necessity not an option.

20130503-133105.jpg

BUDGET :  Every bride wants a fairytale wedding despite the cost, we always forget that there is life after the wedding. Money is one of the hardest aspects of planning your wedding. Who’s paying, how much, when is your bill due and how do you ensure you don’t spend too much of it? A wedding planner is like a financial adviser or an accountant who specializes in weddings. They know how much things should cost, roughly what percentage of your budget will be spent in each area, whether, and when payments will need to be made in order to secure services or products. A wedding planner makes sure you don’t exceed your budget and where that happens its very minimal.

PLANNING :  A wedding planner is a professional consultant who will help you with most (if not all) of the tasks involved in planning your wedding. From vendors, accessories, etiquette and even the smallest of details, this expert has the skills and contacts necessary to make your day come together seamlessly. Not to mention that hiring a wedding planner will help you enjoy the planning process more by taking stress out of the equation!

downloadOUT OF TOWN WEDDING : You live in a different city from where your wedding would be held, its obvious that you work and simply cannot handle both jobs at the same time and bring that dream wedding of yours to reality. To maintain your peace and sanity, a wedding aWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWA2FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA21f!wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrRRRRplanner is a prerequisite.

EXPERIENCE : Experience they say is the best teacher and does not have any financial value. A wedding planner knows all the tricks to use to achieve the desired effect. How to manage the time, vendors, guests e.t.c.

SOUNDING BOARD : A WEDDING PLANNER is your sounding board, you bounce ideas of her and with her expertise  she refines your ideas. The wedding planner is also a tie breaker between couples, she gives her honest opinion on whatever the issues withou20130520-182745.jpgt roughing any feathers.

So do you need a wedding planner? Of course you do, we are almost as important as the wedding itself because we give you the opportunity to actually attend your own wedding not divide yourself while you’re at it.

Evolution of Wedding Cakes

The only constant thing they say in life is change and we see that happening in the world of Event planning.
The wedding cake has evolved over time from the cathedral cakes with all the flowers and figurines of a bride and groom untop. The cakes have to be circle in shape and always a fruit cake with the myth that it should be kept for a year so that the couple can use it again on their first weddibg anniversary.

image

We have evolved to designing our cakes with beads and crystals, placing rhinestones cake toppers.

image

image

The wedding cakes now come in different shapes and flavours ranging from vanilla to red velvet, chocolate, marble etc

image

image

image

Cup cakes are also used as wedding cakes and it’s also shared during the wedding ceremony instead of sharing one of the tiers of the wedding cake.

image

image

image

Cakes are no more placed on cake tables for the couple to cut or for people to observe how they cut it. They are being placed on hanging chandeliers which adds finesse and elegance to the wedding.

image

I love this evolution…….What do you think would be the next stage of evolution for cakes in the wedding scene?

Conventional or Non Conventional ???

There is always a traditional way of doing things, the way our parents got married and the way their parents got married. There is just a conventional way of doing things and we believe in following the conventional way of doing things.
This generation has brought about a change of things, not everything is being done conventionally. Everyday a new trend comes up and brides and grooms are eager to try out this new trends but there is always a clash between the conventional way of doing things and the non conventional way, lets take a few items on a planning list.

Church Venue: The conventional way is to go to church, and have a minister or a reverend to celebrate the service but recently services can be celebrated outside the confines of a church like in a garden, house, hall or the beach. It took a while for this to trend to become a regular one as opposed to the always celebrating the service in a church.

Reception: The reception venue of weddings in the last decade was either at the church hall or city hall but recently it has been a whole new story, a new twist. Weddings are being celebrated in modernized halls, outdoor event centers such as gardens, marquees, beaches etc

Food: Food popularly known as Item 7 has evolved a whole lot, from the traditional Nigerian food, the continental food has wormed it’s way into the menu to add spice to the menu. More recently new items are being added to the menu such as desserts, fruit trees, chocolate fountain, candy buffets, etc. A lot of new additions that adds spice and fun to the wedding.

Wedding Dresses: This one aspect that has gone totally unconventional. Brides wants to be the ones to being in the new trend or stand out totally at their weddings. Conventionally the wedding dresses had to be all puffy, bullish and covered in layers of lace but nowadays you have dresses tailored to fit the brides figure, color and style. Mermaid dresses, tube dresses, Grecian dresses and the most recent trend is for the bride to change into another dress for the reception. A more comfortable and trendy dress that would give her room to have fun.

These are a few aspects of weddings that have evolved over time, send in your comments on areas that you believe are no more conventional and those that you think cannot be changed.
Cheers a and have a lovely week.

A girls wedding day is the most special and important day of our lives, some of us start to plan for that day really early in life, while some if us wait till the event is looming on us or leave it in the capable hands of our event planner.
As an event planner, I have dealt with all kind of clients and until recently just met the PERFECT CLIENT, she has all her i’s dotted and her t’s crossed. She knows exactly what she wants and even has a plan for her perfect day. The wedding has a lovely theme and its all about the couple and having fun. I could not have drawn a better plan for my own wedding myself.

20130503-131806.jpg
It’s always easier on both parties if the client has an idea of what she wants or how she wants her dream day to go. It gives the event planner the opportunity to make the bride’s dream come true.

HOT or NOT- Celebrities and their wedding dresses

Welcome to another exciting blog and today promises to be different, there would be no more advice or tutoring on how to have a perfect wedding. I would be giving constructive criticisms on our celebrities and their choice of wedding gowns.

Our first celebrity wedding is a well renowned actress formerly Stephanie Okereke, now mrs Stephanie Linus Idahosa. Stephanie selected her dream dress “Euterpe” from the 2012 Elie by Elie Saab collection, the Lebanese Couturier’s line for Pronovias. She completed her bridal look with a cathedral length lace veil, sparkly Mui Miu shoes, a dainty tiara and a bouquet of cascading orchids.

20130409-092130.jpg

20130409-092343.jpg
Describing Stephanie’s choice of dresses in one word is “perfect”. The whole ensemble just reminds me of princess Diana, Regal and Royal. The verdict is HOT!!!

The second celebrity wedding is our popular crooner Tuface to his long time heartthrob Annie Macauley. Annie’s dress is the strapless A-line silhouette wedding dress with a cathedral length train was so stunning! Annie paired her dress with an embellished sash (by the same brand which made the dress). She completed her bridal look with a lace-edged veil and her bouquet of red roses.

20130409-093514.jpg

20130409-093530.jpg
For the celebrity wedding of the year, this dress did no justice at all. I understand wanting to patronize our own designer and also encourage them but for a wedding of such pomp and fair, this dress looks like it was picked off the rack. It did nothing to flatter the bride. No disrespect to the designer. The verdict is NOT!!!

Unto the next celebrity wedding whose bride was Grecian and Graceful is Naeto C and Nicole Chukwueke. The bride Nicole looked showstoppingly stunning in her wedding dress by UK-Based Nigerian bridal guru Yemi Osunkoya’s Kosibah accessorized with a diamond headpiece and earrings, her reception dress was crafted by obsidian .

20130409-095252.jpg

20130409-095308.jpg

20130409-095320.jpg
These dresses flatters the bride to a tee, showing off her curves and also giving her the Grecian look that she intended to achieve. Grecian and Graceful. The verdict is HOT!!!

The last but not the least celebrity wedding is Mercy Johnson to Prince Odianosen Okojie. Mercy’s dress had a sweetheart neckline, a-line silhouette with a dramatic cathedral length train, she completed her look with a lace bolero, glittering necklace and cathedral length veil.

20130409-103452.jpg

20130409-103514.jpg
This dress is exquisite but would have been better on a smaller bride, not a bride that has all the endowments that Mercy Johnson has. A mermaid gown would have done justice to accentuating her shape and also giving her a timeless look. The verdict is NOT!!!

These are a few celebrity brides and I would also appreciate your feedback on celebrity brides and if you think their wedding dress was HOT or NOT.

Pretty bride or Bridezilla… A thin line between stunning and awful

A brides wedding day is the most important day of her life and she would love to cherish and treasure every moment for the rest of her life. It’s very important that the make-up doesn’t fall by the wayside, going easy on the make-up can leave the bride very plain and overdoing it can turn the blushing bride into a bobo the clown clone.
It’s a prerequisite that a bride knows what kind of bride she wants to be and also have a per wedding trial before the dee-day to be sure that’s what she wants. We have different classes of brides :
The traditional bride
The church wedding bride
The evening bride

The traditional bride’s make-up is always dramatic, depicts the colors of the day and always bold. Most times the colors of the brides attire is used for her make-up, it’s important the bride does a pre-trial of her make up to be sure it suits her and she does not look like a painted picture by a baby.

20130323-102347.jpg

20130323-102453.jpg

The church wedding bride’s make-up should be clean and understated. A classy makeup without all the fuss during the ceremony, and if you want a little extra drama, add a darker lip color, extra mascara or smoky eyeliner before hitting the reception. Be sure to test your mascara ahead of time to pick a variety that won’t clump when you add an extra coat or two.

20130323-103304.jpg

20130323-103351.jpg

The evening bride’s make-up easily the most glamorous of all weddings, the evening wedding also holds a great deal of potential for cosmetic disaster. Makeup experts caution brides not to go overboard with excessive eye makeup, too-bright lips and cheeks, and heavy, cake-like foundation. After all, the groom should be able to recognize his bride as she walks down the aisle!
Instead of over-emphasizing every lovely feature, experts encourage brides to play up one and take it easy on the others. Beautiful and slightly dramatic eye makeup offers the most bang for your buck in terms of appearance (and it will photograph nicely, too). Smoky eyes, paired with sheer or light-colored, glossy lips are a glamorous, but not overwhelming combination that’s popular for evening brides. Just be sure to keep a light hand with the eye makeup as “smoky” can quickly morph into “raccoon,” especially if the bride sheds a few tears during the ceremony.

I hope all these tips helps brides out there to be pretty, classy and not bridezillas or bozo the clowns.
Last minute addition to this post is a Bridezilla

DO I NEED A WEDDING PLANNER

Every one seems to be getting married,  as the bride you have been dreaming about your wedding like forever and now the time is finally here and u are all giddy with excitement. Plans and decisions to make, loads of  ideas and expectations popping into your head. Pause and think are u ready for the days ahead? DO I NEED A WEDDING PLANNER ?     A friend of mine said no I don’t need a wedding planner and then the day of  her wedding , it was a total disaster. Hair, make-up, no light at the venue, no coordination of the whole wedding.

Hiring a wedding planner is the greatest investment you can make towards your piece of mind, agreed that our society, really does not see the need for a wedding planner. Times are changing and so also is the society, whether you hire the wedding planner to manage your entire wedding, or just co-ordinate the day thereof, bear in mind that you will have an objective, reliable person helping you make sure everything goes as planned.

A wedding planner is a professional consultant who would help you with most if not all the tasks involved in planning your wedding. From vendors, wedding accessories, etiquette  and even the smallest of details, this expert has the skills and contacts necessary to make your day come together seamlessly. Not to mention that hiring a wedding planner would help you enjoy the planning of the wedding without all the hassles and stress

Is a wedding planner right for you, stay tuned to find out!!!
